Instruments de secousses fortes dans la Colombie-Britannique
La Commission géologique du Canada opère un réseau de sismomètres forte secousses dans le sud-ouest de la Colombie Britannique. Certains instruments de ce réseau sont fournis par le Ministère des Transports et Infrastructures, CB, et la compagnie Miller Capilano Highway Maintenance Corporation.
Les sismomètres forte secousses mesurent les secousses du sol et rapportent ces mesures en temps réel par Internet. Les données de ces instruments sont également utilisées pour mettre à jour et améliorer les codes du bâtiment et les cartes d’aléa sismique.
De nombreux instruments sont installés dans des écoles ; certains sont déployés dans des églises, bureaux et chez des personnes privées. La Commission géologique du Canada est très reconnaissante de cette aide.
